The Emmy Awards
The Daytime Emmy Awards (there are also Primetime Emmy Awards) has been honoring excellence in all fields of daytime television production for 32 years. The Emmy is awarded in 58 categories, including acknowledgements for series, performers and all other technical and creative areas of production. Each year the office of the Daytime Emmy Awards processes over 5,000 entries and over 3,000 voter registration forms, culminating with a televised show that pays tribute to the exceptional work of daytime television's elite.

The 32nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were presented by the National Television Academy at Radio City Music Hall and broadcast live on the CBS Television Network (9-11 PM, EST). The special ceremony was opened by daytime television icons Eric Braeden, Deidre Hall and Susan Lucci. Also in attendance was a star-studded line up of presenters including: Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones Reynolds, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Ellen DeGeneres, Anthony Geary, Tyra Banks, Lorenzo Lamas, Aretha Franklin, Vivica A. Fox, Simon Cowell, Tony Danza, Bobby Flay, and Rachael Ray, among others.
Daytime Emmy Awards were presented for performances and programs in 17 categories, including Outstanding Lead Actor/Actress in a Drama Series, Outstanding Game Show Host, Outstanding Talk Show, Performer in a Children’s Series and Outstanding Drama Series. This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Merv Griffin, host of the Emmy Award-winning The Merv Griffin Show and creator of the popular game shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!. Griffin has received a total of 32 Daytime Emmy nominations and 10 wins throughout his career.
The 32nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards is a presentation of the National Television Academy in cooperation with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The telecast was produced by dick clark productions.
On May 14th, Daytime Emmy Awards were presented primarily in the creative arts categories at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City and at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood and Highland in Los Angeles. The Daytime Emmy Awards are presented to daytime television programs broadcast between the hours of 2:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M.
The National Television Academy is a professional service organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. Now in its third year, the National Student Television Award for Excellence encourages journalistic skills among high school students .This nation-wide program uses a curriculum based on two books by Av Westin. In 2005, winners were recognized in 6 categories at the chapter and national levels. The 6 National winners were honored at a ceremony in Los Angeles during the Trustees Weekend.
Stanley Hubbard, Chairman of Hubbard Broadcasting and past Chairman of the National Television Academy, serves as the Foundation’s Chair. Distinguished television journalist Av Westin serves as the Foundation’s Executive Director. Teresa Vickery serves as Education Director. Rose Anderson serves as Administrative Director.
